Manchester United forward was wasted on the bench during their win over Tottenham.

Saturday was a pretty depressing day for Tottenham Hotspur and their supporters as they lost at Wembley to Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.

There was one positive… another snub for transfer target Anthony Martial.

Martial did not get off United’s bench in the win, which will not please the French attacker.

RMC Sport reported earlier this month Martial is considering quitting United, where he has just one year left on his current deal, and that Tottenham are interested.

Sitting out a major semi-final will not help Martial decide to renew his United contract, especially when he casts his mind back to 2016 when he struck the winner against Everton.

Tottenham should start to fancy their chances of signing the attacker, who they were interested in signing in 2015 before he joined United.

Martial could look forward to a more prominent role in attack if he joined Tottenham.

His chances at United have decreased since they signed Alexis Sanchez, and the Red Devils will surely be making a big error by letting him leave.

Martial’s chances of making France’s World Cup squad are finely balanced, and missing out could be a tipping point for his future.

Tottenham must do everything they can to try and land Martial this summer, and seeing him sit out at Wembley has given their chances a boost.
