Tottenham Hotspur wanted winger Wilfried Zaha in 2016.

Tottenham Hotspur are set for another top four finish this season, and with a move into their new stadium on the horizon this summer, fans are hoping for a big summer addition.
Spurs have left their business late in the last two summer transfer windows, and fans will hope for some swift arrivals ahead of the next Premier League season.
However, with Daniel Levy in charge, some may worry that Spurs won’t splash the cash and keep up with rivals such as Liverpool and Manchester City.

Levy did sanction one big-money move last summer, as Spurs broke their transfer record to sign Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez, paying around £42.5million for the Colombian, as reported by The Guardian.
Spurs may yet do the same again, and if they do break their transfer record, then it could be Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha that tempts Tottenham into breaking the bank.
The Ivorian wide man has been a target for Spurs since the summer of 2016, and he has starred for Palace since then, hitting seven goals and nine assists last season, as well as four goals and two assists in just 22 games this term.

Spurs do have Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela who can play out wide, but Zaha’s versatility to play as a striker may also be valuable, and The Times believe Spurs are set to launch a £50million bid for Zaha.
That would break Tottenham’s transfer record, and whilst fans may hope that the club record is broken to bring Gareth Bale back to the club from Real Madrid, Zaha seems much more realistic right now.
