Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Chelsea midfielder, a £40 million signing back in 2017, has struggled since joining the Blues and has spent the last two seasons on loan at AC Milan and Monaco respectively.
And according to Le10 Sport, Newcastle are interested in signing him.
This might be a bit of a concern for some Magpies fans because, well, Bakayoko doesn’t have a glorious history in the Premier League.
One game that might’ve cemented the Londoners’ decision to offload him – if only on loan – was probably a 4-1 defeat by Watford in February of 2018.
Bakayoko, who earns £110,000 per week in West London, had a shocker on that occasion and got sent off within half-an-hour.
Here’s what Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports about that performance: “He has been so poor. That first 30 minutes is one of the worst performances you will see from a player this season.”
Look, the Premier League is quite an unforgiving one for many foreign imports, but the truth is that the Frenchman has only had one season in it and for many, the second one can make all the difference.
If Newcastle are genuinely interested then his first and only year in England so far shouldn’t be a huge deterrent.
