David Jones has claimed on Sky Sports’ Instagram page that ‘one of the biggest lines’ to come from Super Sunday was Roy Keane’s comments on West Ham’s fast-improving star, Declan Rice.

The Sky presenter said that Keane stating that the West Ham midfielder is ‘way ahead of me when I was 22’ is ‘some praise’ from the Premier League legend.

This is what Jones posted on Sky Sports Instagram page: “One of the biggest lines from Super Sunday which most missed…. Some praise from Roy!”

Fellow Sky pundit and former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, added in the comments section: “His workrate is incredible.”

Rice helped West Ham to Europe last season and he is now a regular for England and one of the first names on the teamsheet.

In the summer, at Euro 2020, the hard-hitting player was one of the shining lights for Gareth Southgate’s side as they reached the final.

In what was his first major tournament of his career, both the 22-year-old and Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips ripped it up in the middle of the park.

And now they are thriving for their club sides.

There’s no reason why Rice can’t take West Ham further, win a trophy, or even possibly push them towards the Champions League places.

It could be argued that he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the country right now, although the likes of N’Golo Kante and Fabinho would have something to say about that.

Then again, it’s some company to be in for Rice, who is years and years away from hitting his peak.
