Ally McCoist has stated that if Celtic lose the Scottish Premiership title to Rangers, then it will be ‘one of the biggest collapses of all time’, as he told talkSPORT.

The Ibrox legend added that Rangers have to ‘keep going’ and believe they can still become champions of Scotland ahead of their Old Firm rivals.

Celtic hold a six-point lead over Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, with a much better goal difference, so that will feel like a seven-point lead.

Nonetheless, Rangers beating their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Cup semi-final over the weekend would have given the Gers a much-needed boost.

Added with the fact that they also got the job done, albeit the hard way, in the Europa League last Thursday and McCoist thinks his former side just need to keep going.

“It has been a great week,” said McCoist. “I was at the game (v Braga). I was working. The atmosphere was amazing.

“We should have been home and dry. Honestly, it could have been five nothing, then we lost a goal to take it into extra time. But that’s just what we do.

“You got to keep going (in the title race). You have to believe, haven’t you!? It would be one of the biggest collapses of all time. However, you have to believe it will happen.”

It all started with Steven Gerrard in the dugout and the legendary midfielder hoping to add a second title to his name.

Things were going well for him and Rangers, before Aston Villa came knocking and he left to the surprise of many.

Whilst all of that was happening, the relatively unknown Ange Postecoglou made a slow start to life in Glasgow, only to really motor during these last few months.

Even a little slip-up should still hand the title back to Celtic, unless these players capitulate of the highest magnitude.
