Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has praised Jose Mourinho for the job he is doing at Tottenham.

Ibrahimovic has of course worked with Mourinho before at Inter Milan and Manchester United, and when the BBC went to interview him, it was only a matter of time before the subject of his former coach came up.

The Swede was asked if he was surprised to see Mourinho doing so well with this Tottenham team, but Ibrahimovic said that he’s not surprised by his former manager’s success.

“He’s doing his job, he’s proved and has proven that he is a top coach, one of the best, so he is just continuing to do what he’s doing, so it’s not a surprise,” Ibrahimovic said.

“The only thing he’s doing is doing it with a different club now, so I know who Mourinho is as a person and a coach and the philosophy that he brings out is a successful recipe. He’s just continuing to do things he was doing before.”

To get such praise from a bona fide legend of the game is brilliant to see, but Ibrahimovic isn’t telling us anything we don’t already know.

Mourinho has proven over the best part of the last two decades that he is one of the best coaches in the world, and anyone who doubted him when he arrived at Tottenham has been proven wrong.

The ex-Chelsea boss has won pretty much everything there is to win in football, so nobody should be shocked to see him doing so well with a squad as talented is Tottenham’s.

Ibrahimovic knows better than anyone what Mourinho is like as a gaffer, and his comments seem to indicate that Spurs are in good hands.
