Speaking to the Premier League’s official YouTube channel, reported Liverpool summer target, Adama Traore, has opened up on how much he admires the Reds, calling them one of the best teams around the world.
Liverpool are undoubtedly one of the best teams on the planet, after all, they’re the reigning World champions and they romped home to the Premier League title last season.
Traore was building his dream teammate, and he named Virgil van Dijk as the best defender in the league, while simultaneously praising Liverpool as a team.
“Defending would have to be van Dijk again, he’s a clever player, and he’s playing in one of the best teams around the world, so I think that helps too,” Traore said.
“Also it’s no doubt because last year he was one of the best defenders of the year in the Premier League.”
Traore clearly thinks that Liverpool are a brilliant team, and if things had gone a little differently, he may have ended up signing for them this summer.
Indeed, the Reds are reportedly big fans of Traore, with Jurgen Klopp once calling him ‘unplayable‘, while fans were also keen to see him signed at one point, but for one reason or another, the move never came to fruition.
However, with Traore refusing to sign a new contract and now openly praising Liverpool as a team, we have to wonder whether or not the Reds’ interest in the Spain international could be reignited next summer?
It’s certainly interesting to hear Traore speak about the Reds in this way, and if the Merseyside club ever come knocking for the winger again, we can only imagine that he’d be at least slightly interested in playing for a team he considers amongst the best in the world.
