England beat Scotland 3-0 on Friday evening – and Martin Keown was impressed with two Spurs stars.

Pundit Martin Keown has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Kyle Walker and Danny Rose are one of the best full back tandems in Europe after they starred in England’s win over Scotland.

England coasted to victory against their Scottish counterparts, as Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill all scored headers to hand the Three Lions a 3-0 victory at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening.

The result is likely to ensure that interim manager Gareth Southgate lands the job on a permanent basis, as England are on course to reach the 2018 World Cup in Russia after Friday’s win.

A number of players impressed for England in a comfortable, comprehensive win, but two player took out for ex-Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown.

Right back Kyle Walker and left back Danny Rose have been key players for Tottenham ever since Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival as Spurs manager back in the summer of 2014, and they’re now on their way to becoming vital parts of the England side too.

The two full backs offer constant width and attacking threat against Scotland, whilst they helped England keep a clean sheet at the back – not a great surprise given that they’re part of the famously tight defence under Pochettino at Spurs.

After the final whistle, Keown told the Daily Mail that he felt that England had the extra quality needed to break down a ‘well-drilled’ Scotland side thanks to the width provided by Walker and Rose.

Keown noted that the pair are now on the of the best full back tandems in Europe, putting on great crosses for goals, before suggesting that the two get forward so much, they’re almost like wingers.

“Scotland were well-drilled at times, but being organised only gets you so far and it was England who provided the extra quality on Friday night — in the form of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose,” said Keown.

“The Spurs pair look like one of the best full-back tandems in Europe, and the way they put crosses on a plate for Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana to score shows they can pick the right balls at the key moments. They’re so attacking they’re more like wingers than defenders, and they certainly improve our quality in the final third,” he added.
