Alvaro Montero has shared that Unai Emery is viewed as ‘one of the best Spanish coaches in the last decade’ amid Newcastle rumours, as he told Sky Sports News (02/11/21 at 4:20 pm).
The ex-Arsenal boss is one of the leading contenders to become Newcastle’s next manager, according to Sky Sports.
But, according to Guillem Balague, he will reject the Premier League side despite that heavy interest.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Newcastle fans are getting frustrated in the club’s search for a new manager because it has been over a week since Steve Bruce was sacked.
The problem is their current position, being winless and sitting in the relegation zone, which just sends more panic across the North East.
But Spanish expert Montero shared his thoughts on Emery and how he might have something to prove in England, if he does return.
“He is seen as one of the best Spanish coaches in the last decade,” said Montero.
“After the good amount of coaches like Pep Guardiola or Rafael Benitez, he is just seen as one of the good ones.
“But, the main problem is that he has not been an extreme success, except those good moments in Sevilla when they win the Europa League.
“I think the Premier League is a good option for him – maybe he wants to try and do it better (than he did at Arsenal), with this huge project.”

Emery’s attacking style would suit the likes of Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser and Miguel Almiron.
Not forgetting summer signing Joe Willock, who he worked with at Arsenal and will know a lot about.
Plus, he has had that experience and pressure of being on the big stage, it’s just a case of does he have those survival qualities in his locker?
That’s probably what will be needed most of all, and the ability to lift a dressing that needs some serious confidence injected into them.
