Aston Villa fans were left wowed by Heung-Min Son’s performance during their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
The 29-year-old didn’t get on the scoresheet yesterday, but that didn’t stop him from being a thorn in Aston Villa’s side.
He assisted both of Tottenham’s goals, including his bursting run down on the flank that left Kortney Hause for dead, before playing the ball across the face of goal, which was poked into the wrong net by Matt Targett.
Even though Villa fans were disappointed to see their side suffer a defeat, they were impressed by what they saw from Tottenham’s flying forward.
Last season, Dean Smith’s side secured 15 clean sheets and, for large periods, have proven that not many opposition can trouble their backline.
But Son caused Villa no-ends of problems, even though he couldn’t get on the scoresheet, with his speed and change of direction proving to be too much to handle for the Midlands side.
The South Korea international has previous with Villa because, prior to the pandemic, he scored a last-gasp winner at Villa Park.
And Villa supporters are beginning to realise that he is becoming a bit of a problem for them.
Come the reverse fixture, you can bet your bottom dollar that Villa will probably put more emphasis on trying to stop Son than Harry Kane.
