Bryan Gil has been lauded for his early form on loan at Valencia from Tottenham and even despite a 4-1 defeat to Barcelona – he was applauded by Spanish outlet El Desmarque. He was handed a 7/10 rating for his efforts.

Gil, 21, joined Valencia on loan from Tottenham in January after failing to score in his first 20 games for Spurs – managing just one assist. He has since started four of five games for Valencia, impressing the Mestalla crowd.

He lasted the entire 90 minutes against Barcelona, as Xavi’s side showed their continued improvement and class. January recruit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the man of the match, netting a superb hat-trick.

Frenkie de Jong also got one, while Carlos Soler got one for Valencia – assisted by Gil. In a player ratings piece from Valencia-based outlet El Desmarque, Tottenham star Gil was handed a 7/10.

They report: “He was one of the best. He laid on a metered assist to Carlos Soler in the 51st minute. He was involved in almost all the dangerous plays made by Valencia.”

Gil impresses again: Tottenham star is shining on loan at Valencia

One of the only positives from a Valencia point of view, Gil was stunning. He has been ever since moving to the Mestalla. On loan with the La Liga club, does he have a future at Tottenham? On this basis, without a doubt.

The question mark now is, does he have the physical demands to cope with Premier League football? Is playing in Spain simply getting the best out of him? Or does he need time to adapt to England, the language, the football?

Tottenham will be watching from afar. It will be an intriguing summer for Gil. Valencia are said to want him on loan again, but Spurs might want to keep him – or even just let him join an English club on loan.
