Leeds United fans were left impressed by Leo Hjelde’s performance despite his side getting knocked out of the FA Cup by West Ham on Sunday.

The 18-year-old made his debut against a strong West Ham XI and Leeds supporters felt that he more than held his own during the 2-0 loss.

Hjelde played at the heart of the defence for the Whites, alongside Diego Llorente, and the teenager looked like a seasoned pro.

With Marcelo Bielsa having to deal with several injuries this season, including at the back, there is a chance the Whites fans might see more of Hjelde.

Days after suffering a defeat at the London Stadium, Leeds will travel to London once again to take on West Ham.

And there are some Leeds fans that want their new star to start once more because, despite coming up against a certain Michail Antonio, he dealt with his threat.

West Ham’s opening goal, which came from Manuel Lanzini, was a controversial one, as Leeds battled to stay in the competition throughout the 90 minutes.

Jarrod Bowen then dealt the killer blow right at the end to put West Ham’s name in the hat for the next round and they will now face off against Non-league side, Kidderminster Harriers in the fourth round.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting if Bielsa throws Hjelde into a bigger and more important pond of the Premier League.

Whilst Leeds are starting to open a gap, they are still in a relegation battle, and whichever way Bielsa turns, it’s a risk.

But the Leeds boss has previously shown, no matter how young or inexperienced, he will throw you into the deep end.

Here is a selection of Leeds fans reacting to Hjelde’s performance yesterday:
