Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jesse Marsch has been discussing Leeds-born Erling Haaland after it was confirmed that he’s set to sign for Manchester City.

The Norwegian is a player that Marsch knows very well having worked alongside him at RB Salzburg, and he says that he’s destined to become one of the best players in the world.

Marsch says that he wishes that Haaland was coming back to his birthplace and joining Leeds United, but sadly, a player like that is beyond the Whites’ reach right now and he’s heading to another of his father’s former clubs – Manchester City.

What’s Marsch said about Haaland?

The Leeds managed discussed his former star striker.

“Erling Haaland is destined to be one of the best players in the world. It’s his quality but it’s also his talent. I wish he were coming back home here to Leeds, this is his birthplace, but I understand his decision to go to Man City. It will be interesting. He’s an explosive player in transition and Man City play a lot in possession, he can play any style of player, but it makes Man City even better. Well done to them for getting that done and I always wish the best for Erling because he’s an incredible human being,” Marsch said.

Maybe one day

Marsch says that he wishes Haaland was signing for Leeds, and perhaps one day he will.

Of course, he won’t be thinking about a move to Elland Road right now. After all, he’s one of the best players in the world and Leeds are battling relegation, but perhaps when his career is winding down he’ll do a stint in West Yorkshire.

Haaland has made no secret about the fact he’s a massive Leeds fan, and the Whites even almost signed him as a youngster, but RB Salzburg managed to pip them to his signature.

Haaland will be a star for Manchester City for years to come, but perhaps in 10 or 15 years’ time, he’ll be looking at ending his career with his boyhood club, Leeds United.
