Victor Anichebe has admitted that he’s such a big fan of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The 26-year-old sat out the Toffees’ 3-3 draw at Old Trafford last night due to injury but even had he been fit, Carlo Ancelotti still may have axed him.

Pickford has endured something of an error-laden season in between the sticks for Everton and made another mistake in the game against Leicester City last month.

But Anichebe, who played alongside the goalkeeper at Sunderland, has revealed that although his former team-mate can be a tad erratic, his distribution is among the best he’s ever seen from a player in that position.

He told Stadium Astro: “I’m a big fan. I’m actually a bigger fan of Jordan than other people when it came to Everton. He probably has one of the best distribution as a goalkeeper that I’ve seen. He’s a bit erratic sometimes and gets a bit excited, but there’s things that he’ll learn with age and maturity.”

It’s worth pointing out that the former Black Cat – who earns £100,000 per week at Goodison Park – is still only 26.

He’s nowhere near hitting the prime years of his career for a goalkeeper and therefore it’s reasonable to expect the Everton star to get a lot better.

Plus, he’s being trained by a coach who has won the Champions League on three occasions, so he seems to be in very good hands.
