Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Allan Saint-Maximin has been lauding Jonjo Shelvey and his ability in training.
The French winger was asked which player he most likes to have on his team during training sessions, and while Saint-Maximin could’ve picked stars such as Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier or Alexander Isak, he chose Shelvey.
Indeed, Saint-Maximin says that Shelvey is genuinely one of the best players he’s ever seen, stating that he always wins when they’re on the same team in training.

Saint-Maximin hails Shelvey
The winger spoke incredibly highly of Shelvey.
“Who do you always want on your team in training? Saint-Maximin was asked.
“I always want in my team Jonjo Shelver. He’s one of the best players I’ve seen, very technical and when I am with him I always win, so I like to be with him in training,” Saint-Maximin said.
Imagine these two in training
Jonjo Shelvey may not be the most high-profile player in this Newcastle squad, but technically, he’s up there with the very best of them.
The midfielder’s ability to play a pass or hit a long-shot is second-to-none and in training games where things aren’t so intense and high-pace, we can imagine he’s an absolute joy to watch.
The same can be said of Saint-Maximin too. The winger is one of the trickiest, flair players in Europe, and we can’t even begin to imagine the types of tricks and skills he attempts in training when the stakes are lower and he has more time on the ball.
It’s not surprising to hear that Saint-Maximin and Shelvey both shine in training, they’re both naturally gifted players who can do things with a football that many others can only dream of.
