Tottenham Hotspur full back Djed Spence has been praised after his performance in Genoa’s 0-0 draw with Juventus on Sunday.

Radu Dragusin didn’t really enjoy his first Premier League start for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Romanian defender came in for the injured Micky van de Ven but struggled as Tottenham lost 3-0 at Fulham.

Dragusin will need to adjust to life in the Premier League and will hopefully receive plenty of time and chances to do so.

Dragusin didn’t have the best weekend but what about Djed Spence?

The Spurs right back joined Genoa on loan as part of Dragusin’s January move to North London and turned in a strong display against Juventus.

Djed Spence praised in Italy

Spence spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds United but couldn’t make an impact, leading to his move to Italy.

The 23-year-old may not have a long-term future at Tottenham but Spurs will have surely kept tabs on his display against Juventus on Sunday.

Spence helped Genoa claim a 0-0 draw in Turin, playing the full 90 minutes.

Tuttomercatoweb were hugely impressed, suggesting that Spence was ‘everywhere’ an d his performance was ‘worth remembering’.

“His game was worth remembering. He pushes forward, always being ready, he sacrifices himself in defence by closing every gap without ever letting his teammate in difficulty miss doubling the lead. Man everywhere,” they wrote.

Eurosport went with a 7 out of 10 rating for Spence, slightly higher than TMW’s 6.5 rating, having suggested that he completely nullified Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

“Chiesa puts himself in his pocket and makes his physical power count in both phases of the game, revealing himself to be one of the best on the pitch,” they wrote.

Pianeta Genoa also went with a 7 out of 10 rating, with Spence earning great reviews across the Italian media.

Tottenham may well hope that Spence does enough to impress Genoa and land a permanent move – or put himself in the shop window for a move elsewhere.

Sunday’s display – especially against a top European side – will certainly help matters with Spence looking to get back on track after a difficult 18-month spell with Tottenham.
