Tottenham Hotspur were far too good for Chelsea yesterday.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri spoke to reporters after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham yesterday, and suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are one of the best counter attacking teams in Europe, as quoted by Football.London.
The Blues were second best against Spurs from the very first whistle, and in the end, the 3-1 scoreline ended up flattering Sarri’s side.
Tottenham now sit above Chelsea in the Premier League table, and they are just five points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.
The way in which Sours pressed the west London outfit yesterday was mightily impressive, and they looked full of vigour and enthusiasm – something that is not usually the case following the two-week international break.
Sarri addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s defeat to Tottenham yesterday, and raved about the quality of the north London outfit, as quoted by Football.London:
“Against Tottenham that is very dangerous to lose the ball in your half, because in the short counter attacks they are maybe one of the strongest teams in Europe. So it was a disaster after 20 minutes, 2-0 was the minimum.”
There is obviously still a long way to go this season, but it is quite clear to see that Chelsea will have their work cut-out, if they hope to finish above Tottenham come what May.
