There’s no doubt that Troy Parrott is one of the best and most exciting players to be coming through Tottenham Hotspur’s academy right now.
At only 18 years old, the Irish striker already has two Premier League appearances under his belt and Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho have both sung his praises.
Mourinho, who stated in January that Parrott wasn’t ready for regular football at the highest level, loaned him to Millwall this past summer and it looks like the manager of that Championship club has been blown away by the teenage prodigy.
Injury has limited the Tottenham sensation to only 45 minutes of senior football for the Lions, which came in a League Cup defeat by Burnley in September.
But Millwall boss Gary Rowett is hoping to have him available after the international break, revealing that he is one of the most gifted finishers that he has ever seen.
He told News at Den: “I think he would give us a different type of attacking threat. That would be nice to see and hopefully after this international break we’ll get to see that.
“Pre-season you saw that absolute quality he has in front of goal. He’s an excellent footballer and probably one of the best finishers I’ve seen.”
Even if he’s struggled to make his mark in the Championship yet, leaving on loan was definitely the smart move.
A season in the second tier is far better for his development than a full year with Tottenham’s Under-23 side and hopefully when he comes back next summer, he’s ready to show Mourinho that he is now ready for the Premier League.
