Speaking on the 433 Podcast, 19-year-old Ricardo Pepi has been speaking about his move to Augsburg in January.

The American striker was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool before the winter transfer window opened, but in the end, he made a much more low-key move to the Bundesliga.

However, despite having a chance to join the Reds or one of Europe’s other elite clubs such as Ajax or Bayern Munich, Pepi says that joining Augsburg is one of the best decisions he’s ever made.

What’s been said?

Pepi spoke about his move to Augsburg and how happy he is.

“I always say that I don’t like being comfortable and that I like being pushed to the limit. I know it will take a long time to adapt to the club and adapt to the moment, and I’ll do that as fast as I can, but these decisions are life-changing decisions. You come here and do good at the club and you get noticed by a lot of people and a lot of teams. It was a big decisions, but at the moment it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made,” Pepi said.

Stepping stone

As Pepi says, a move to Augsburg will get other people and other teams to notice him, and it will also allow him the chance to get up to speed with the rigours of European football.

A move to Liverpool at his age probably wouldn’t have done him any favours, he would barely have played and he may have struggled to adapt to the Premier League.

However, in Germany, he’ll get plenty of gametime, and he’ll be forced to adapt to one of the most intense leagues in the world.

Pepi is yet to score his first Bundesliga goal, but he’ll certainly be learning new things on a daily basis.
