Coventry City defender Declan Drysdale admits that the ‘aggressive’ Alfredo Morelos was a nightmare to play against during Sunday’s 2-0 friendly defeat to Rangers, speaking to the Sky Blues’ official website.

While a firebrand centre-forward has found himself at the centre of plenty of flashpoints since arriving in Glasgow three years ago, he certainly channelled that trademark aggression in the right way this weekend.

Morelos lead the line for Rangers as Coventry arrived at Ibrox.

Despite the incessant speculation surrounding the Colombia international with a move to Lille, he looked fit and focused, setting up the jinking Joe Aribo for a well-worked opener late in the first-half.

And, after making his first appearance in half a year due to a prolonged spell on the sidelines, you can imagine a panting Drysdale will be pleased to see the back of Morelos.

“It was a good test for myself against Morelos,” Drysdale reflects. “He’s one the best strikers in Scotland and I thought he was good, he’s aggressive and he’s always moving so it was a good test for me.

“It was tough, and it was a real test for us and of course we knew that because they’re one of the top teams in Scotland, if not the best.”

With Sky Sports claiming that Morelos has agreed personal terms over a move to the Ligue 1 outfit, though it remains uncertain whether an actual bid has been made thus far.

Either way, the departure of a 29-goal top scorer will do Rangers’ hopes of ending Celtic’s nine-year reign at the top of the Scottish game no good whatsoever.
