Jamie Carragher has lavished praise on to Eddie Howe for the incredible job he has done at Newcastle United this season.

The former Liverpool defender praised the £60,000-a-week (90 Min) on Monday Night Football (via the Sky Sports website).

As Newcastle United especially have qualified for the Champions League, Jamie Carragher, like many has been left blown away by Eddie Howe.

Jamie Carragher raves about Newcastle boss Eddie Howe

After taking over the Magpies job last season when they sitting in 19th place, many believes that Howe was only brought in to steer the team to safety.

However, it seems like PIF have always considered the ex-Bournemouth manager as the man to lead their project in the long-term and their faith has been repaid.

As a result, it is a not a shock to see Jamie Carragher laud Eddie Howe, as the work he has done at Newcastle is praiseworthy to say the least.

“They have spent money. But when you actually look at that team on paper it is not a top-four team. But it has found itself in the Champions League positions. That for me is a lot about Eddie Howe.”

Jamie Carragher also pinpointed how Eddie Howe has defied expectations at Newcastle, saying, “He has been overlooked by other clubs for other jobs. When he lost his job at Bournemouth, I think a lot of clubs looked at him and Newcastle took the chance.”

“I think a lot of people felt Eddie Howe would be the guy who gets them through a year and then they would need someone else to get them into the Champions League and win silverware.”

“He is talking about winning silverware. And we all believe him because of the job that he has done this season. He has done one of the best jobs in the Premier League.”

Eddie Howe is a strong candidate for being the Manager of the Season

Jamie Carragher picked Newcastle tactician Eddie Howe as his Manager of the Season in the Premier League and it remains a fair claim.

Of course, if Pep Guardiola even wins a double, he deserves the accolade more than any manager in the league.

However, up until this point, a strong case can be made for Howe, who has taken a side that is far from top-class on paper and turned them into one of the scariest teams to face in the country.

That, alongside spearheading his side to Champions League qualification and a Carabao Cup final appearance deserves a lot of credit.
