Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will get a chance to analyse Antonio Rudiger up close on Sunday afternoon.
The German manager is preparing for a League Cup final with Chelsea at Wembley.
And with Liverpool reportedly interested in signig Rudiger when his contract expires this summer, tomorrow is a chance for the Reds boss to run the rule over the former Roma powerhouse, who cost £29 million [BBC Sport].
Mohamed Salah had a stormer against the Blues when both sides clashed in a Premier League encounter.
And former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that Rudiger has a responsibility to help his left-back – whoever starts at Wembley – combat the Egyptian, describing the Chelsea centre-back as ‘one of the best’ in England.
He wrote in The Telegraph: “Salah versus Marcos Alonso would be a mismatch so Tuchel will be entrusting his left centre-back, Rudiger, to help out. Rudiger is one of the best defenders in the Premier League, so he and covering midfielders will be trying to ensure Salah doesn’t get opportunities to go one-on-one with his marker.”
Could Liverpool sign Rudiger?
Well the Anfield outfit are one of several teams linked with the Germany international.
Eurosport has reported that he’s a genuine target of Klopp and with no extension at Chelsea being signed, a departure is looking increasingly likely.
As far as free transfers go, Rudiger would be absolutely immense because Carragher is right, he’s one of the Premier League’s finest central defenders.
And if he helps combat Liverpool’s Salah on Sunday then, well, the race for his signature will only intensify.
