Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has hailed Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa on the ITV Football Show podcast.

Palace beat Leeds 4-1 last weekend at Selhurst Park, with Townsend starting during the contest.

And the £13 million England international (Guardian) says that Roy Hodgson absolutely loved pitting his wits against Bielsa.

“He [Hodgson] loved it,” Townsend said.

“He’s been around 45 years and you’re not still managing at the age of 73 if you don’t enjoy that battle with the best managers.

“Obviously Bielsa has proven he is one of the best around, what he’s done this season with Leeds has been phenomenal, for a team that has just come up.”

Bielsa has indeed done a hugely impressive job at Leeds, with the Whites producing some excellent results since returning to the top flight.

Leeds have proven that they can compete with some of the league’s best teams.

However, they have been hit heavily by injuries lately, and their results have taken a turn for the worse.

Leeds have now lost 4-1 in both their last two games, which has seen them sink down to 15th place in the Premier League table.
