Sheffield United fans urge ownership issues to be resolved as Chris Wilder says his position as manager is under threat until they are.
Chris Wilder has admitted that unless the disharmony at board level is resolved then his position as Sheffield United manager is under question.
There is a battle for ownership between HRH Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Kevin McCabe, who have both made attempts this season to take sole control of the club.
The duo have worked together at Bramall Lane since 2013, but their relationship has since broken down and this lack of certainty about what direction the Blades are going in is frustrating Wilder.
“It’s 100 percent critical it gets resolved,” the 50-year-old told the Sheffield Star.
“I can’t do my job properly unless there is direction and a decision from the owners. Any club that wants to be successful has to have harmony and a direction. There isn’t that here at the moment.
“It needs to happen soon. And it needs to happen quick.
“I really shouldn’t be talking about this. But it seems I am. I’ll always be honest and if people don’t like that then they’ll have to deal with it.
“I walked through the front door with my head held high and I’ll walk out the front door with my head held high.”
Wilder has been a huge success since being named as United boss in the summer of 2016, ending a five-year stay in League One that first season by winning the title with 100 points.
Under the guidance of the Sheffield-born coach the team even mounted an early promotion push upon their return to the Championship, although a 1-0 home defeat to Preston North End at the weekend has since ended any outside hope of making the play-offs.
It is therefore understandable that fans of the club are not happy that off-the-field issues are affecting Wilder’s future in the dugout.
