Former Aston Villa and Rangers boss McLeish is among the favourites to replace Mark Warburton at Ibrox.
Ex-Aston Villa and Rangers manager Alex McLeish
Alex McLeish was the man who gave Alan Hutton his debut at Rangers and made him one of his first recruits at Aston Villa, nearly a decade on.
Now, with McLeish among the favourites to succeed Mark Warburton at Ibrox, could a third reunion be on the cards this summer?
Still only 32, Hutton is out of contract at Villa Park in June, and his chances of a new deal look slim following James Bree’s rrival, while Ritchie de Laet is set to return next term.
And with Rangers’ James Tavernier struggling to handle the step up to Premiership level this season, right-back could be one of McLeish’s first orders of business should he take the reins in Glasgow.
Piquing Hutton’s interest shouldn’t be a problem, with the Rangers academy product telling the Daily Record shortly after his 2008 departure to Tottenham Hotspur: “I still love the club and you never know where I’ll end up later in my career – I might find myself back at Ibrox one day.”

Wages, though, could be a sticking point, with Hutton likely to take home more than any current Rangers player, despite being employed by an English Championship side.
That said, some money a week is better than nothing and unemployment.
Should Rangers try to resign Hutton when his Aston Villa deal expires?
