Conor Wickham labelled Jack Grealish ‘one of a kind’ on Instagram after he responded to the Aston Villa man penning a new contract yesterday.

A number of current and former players sent messages to the playmaker on Instagram to congratulate him, including the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice, Alan Hutton, Yannick Bolasie, Ross Barkley and Steve Sidwell.

In a perhaps surprise move, Villa announced on Twitter that Grealish has extended his stay at Villa Park, which understandably delighted those in Claret & Blue.

Crystal Palace striker Wickham wrote to Grealish on Instagram: ‘@jackgrealish One of a kind. Congrats mate. Well deserved.’

Other simply offered their congratulations, with Tyrone Mings calling him a ‘big player’.

Well, Grealish celebrated his new contract in fine style yesterday because his volley from the edge of the penalty area helped Villa book their place in the next round of the League Cup.

In what was Dean Smith’s side first competitive game of the season, they had to come from behind to beat Burton Albion 3-1, as their fans will be hoping for another trip to Wembley this season.

But the most important thing of all is that Grealish’s future has been secured, which will boost the club’s chances of pushing up the Premier League table.
