Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Ibrahima Konate can become world class earlier than expected.

Klopp made the comments about Liverpool central defender Konate following the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Saturday.

The 22-year-old French centre-back started the match at the back alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Konate: “From a centre-half point of view, he is a kid pretty much in this position.

“You get world-class usually a little later but he can obviously do that earlier. Yes, I am very pleased with what he is showing.”

Future star

In our opinion, Konate has the potential to become a huge star for Liverpool in the future.

Yes, the 22-year-old has not always played regularly, but you cannot ignore the fact that Van Dijk and Joel Matip are so good together in central defence for Liverpool.

Konate has made nine appearances in the Premier League and has scored two goals in seven Champions League matches for Liverpool this season.

It will be interesting to see how Konate does next season.

Klopp is clearly a fan, and perhaps the Liverpool will make Van Dijk and Konate his preferred centre-back pairing next season.

We think that Konate is a player who has a long-term and successful future with Liverpool.

Working with Van Dijk and Klopp on a regular basis is only going to help the Frenchman get better.
