Rangers could be in the market for a new striker this summer, with Jermain Defoe’s contract set to come to an end.
The Gers have been linked with the likes of Britt Assombalonga and Fashion Sakala of late, but there could be moves at youth level too.
There seems to be some confusion though, regarding one potential incoming and one possible outgoing.
Let’s start with the incoming. It looked like Rangers were about to strike a deal for FC Honka striker Juan Alegria.
The Gers had great success signing one Colombian striker from Finnish football in Alfredo Morelos, and Alegria seemed primed to follow him to Glasgow.
Alegria announced in December that he was set for a move to Ibrox, and he even posted a photo of himself watching Rangers on TV, but there has been no word on a move actually happening.
The Daily Record reported that the Brexit rules could hamper Rangers’ hopes of landing a work permit, and almost two months since the transfer window ended, we’re still none the wiser on whether the 18-year-old attacker will end up at Ibrox or not.
As for the outgoing, Nathan Young-Coombes was set for a move to Brentford according to the Daily Record, but again, there has been no confirmation from either side that it will be happening.
The former Chelsea man allegedly fancies a return to London, and Brentford are seemingly ready to pounce with his contract up this summer.
It may well be that Alegria comes in and Young-Coombes goes, but with reports suggesting that both deals were imminent, neither have been completed or announced, leaving fans a little confused as things stand.
