Garth Crooks has suggested to BBC Sport that Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette should have started against Wolves.
Lacazette was dropped to the bench during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves, with the Frenchman only being deployed late on, as the Gunners searched for an equaliser.
Lacazette didn’t have much of an impact on the game after he was introduced, but Crooks feels he should have been playing from the start.
Indeed, the pundit cannot understand why Mikel Arteta decided to leave Pierre Emerick Aubameyang so isolated in a game where his side were favourites.
“Once again, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta left his best striker – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – isolated for much of the match and brought on Alexandre Lacazette (a proven goalscorer) with only 10 minutes remaining,” Crooks said.
“So let me get this straight – the Gunners were playing at home against Wolves and played with only one recognised goalscorer up front?”
In fairness to Arteta, Lacazette could surely have few complaints about being taken out of Arsenal’s side.

The £46 million striker (BBC Sport) has been woefully off form this season, despite Arteta showing great faith in him.
Dropping Lacazette still doesn’t seem to have been the answer to Arsenal’s attacking problems though.
The Gunners have continued to struggle for goals, and they did not even manage to have a shot on target in the second half, as they chased the game against Wolves.
