Tottenham can repeat famous achievement seven years ago against West Ham tonight, but their target is much more than that.
Seven years ago today, Tottenham made perhaps the biggest stride towards the level they currently reside within English football, as Peter Crouch netted to earn a vital 1-0 win away to big-spending Manchester City and secured Champions League football for the first time for the North Londoners.

City’s drive onwards of course would continue with even more money spent, but Tottenham’s taste of Champions League football – defeating both Milan clubs as they made their way to the competition’s quarter finals under Redknapp in 2011 – helped set the standard and momentum for where they are today.
Because the money earned, and the performances of certain players, not to mention the excitement to compete in major competitions and towards the top of the league, arguably fired chairman Daniel Levy’s desire to ensure Spurs became one of the best teams in the country, and ahead of another crucial May 5 match tonight, that is what Tottenham supporters have.
Spurs go to West Ham this evening looking to extend their run of successive Premier League victories to ten – the most they’ve ever recorded in the modern era. Tottenham have already secured their highest ever points total this season as they chase down Chelsea at the top of the table – a lead that could be cut to just one point with victory at London Stadium.
It would be a fitting anniversary performance if Mauricio Pochettino’s men were to register such a momentous win on their first trip to the former Olympic Stadium, not least because it would ensure Champions League football for next season. Just like it did when Crouch nodded in from Younes Kaboul’s cross against City in 2010.
