What were the big stories in football one year ago today?

Kane cracker

Twelve months ago to the day Tottenham Hotspur missed out on the chance to apply pressure on league leaders Leicester City in a 2-2 draw with North London rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

However, the game was best remembered for an incredible goal from Harry Kane.

The English striker whipped in a fantastic effort from an acute angle to leave Spurs fans enthused.

A year later and Kane scored a great goal again as Spurs beat Everton 3-2 at White Hart Lane.

RIP Leeds

Leeds beat Bolton 2-1 a year ago today, with Mirco Antenucci scoring both goals.

But the game was overshadowed by fans holding a fake funeral signifying the death of the club, as they continued to protest the ownership of maverick Italian Massimo Cellino.

A year on and Leeds are fourth in the Championship, Cellino has taken a step backwards and Antenucci is playing in the Italian second tier. Times change.

Newcastle United fans rounded on manager Steve McClaren, as the club lost to Bournemouth and slipped ever closer to relegation.

It was his last game in charge of the club and he was sacked six days later.
