Kris Boyd has claimed that Steven Gerrard is ‘on the verge’ of losing patience with Rangers star Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian hitman has netted only five goals in 16 games across all competitions for Rangers this season.

On Thursday, he drew another blank as Gerrard’s side beat Brondby 2-0 in the Europa League.

Morelos is stuck on 99 goals for the Gers and the player incurred the wrath of his manager in Glasgow recently.

In an interview with South American press, the 25-year-old suggested this week that he had achieved all he wanted in Scotland in what appeared to be a hint that he was ready to go elsewhere.

Here’s what Boyd told The Scottish Sun: “Morelos is not scoring at the moment and he’s not playing well. He’s going to have to buck up his ideas if he wants that cherished 100th goal any time soon.

“For my money, Steven Gerrard is on the verge of losing his patience with him. Morelos doesn’t do interviews here in Scotland, but every now and then one pops up in his homeland.”

Focus

Morelos, a £1 million signing in 2017, has been a massive player for Rangers down the years.

But Boyd is right and honestly, Gerrard probably is getting fed up.

The Ibrox boss might be able to tolerate these transfer soundbites if Morelos was doing the business every week.

But to make suggestions about leaving Glasgow while your form is like this, well that’s a kick in the teeth for not only Gerrard, but the fanbase as a whole.

The good news is that a player of this quality is never far away from stringing together a blinding run of form.

Question is, is he focused enough on Rangers to do that?

Honestly, it looks doubtful.
