Kevin Campbell suggested on the Highbury Squad Podcast that both Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe will be ‘on the bench’ for Arsenal today.

Whilst the Sky Sports pundit first suggested that Smith Rowe could start alongside the likes of Martin Odegaard, Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang and Alexandre Lacazette, he then claimed that it might be a place on the bench for the Englishman.

David Moyes’ Champions League-chasing side will look to spoil Arsenal’s week, which has seen them beat their North London rivals and progress through in Europe.

Nonetheless, this is what Campbell had to say about Martinelli and Smith Rowe.

On whether he would start Martinelli: “He’ll be on the bench,” said Campbell.

“For me, how it’s going to go. Odegaard, Smith Rowe, potentially, and Aubamyeang, with Lacazette up top.

“Or you can go with Pepe on the right, Aubameyang (on the left) and Odegaard. I think Smith Rowe might be on the bench.”

The Martinelli situation is an interesting one because many Arsenal fans feel that he should be playing a lot more.

Before his long-term injury, he was one of a few Arsenal players bringing excitement and belief into the club.

But since he returned from the treatment room, Martinelli has had to do with sitting behind the physio on Arsenal’s bench, but the positive is that he did earn ten or so minutes in midweek.
