Roberto Firmino has been speaking to UEFA after Liverpool thrashed Rangers by a 7-1 scoreline in the Champions League.

The Brazil international scored twice at Ibrox, while also assisting Darwin Nunez in confident fashion with a flamboyant flick.

Jürgen Klopp then withdrew Firmino and the Uruguay international in place of Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah, where the latter remarkably went on to score a hat-trick in just over six minutes.

Firmino has now shared what he said to Nunez after the Egypt international scored his first.

What Firmino said to Nunez as Liverpool went 4-1 up

Speaking to UEFA with the Man of the Match award in his hand, Firmino said: “When he scored his first goal, I told Darwin on the bench that he will score a hat-trick, 100%. I’m so happy for him.”

Clearly, the Liverpool squad have huge confidence in Salah, and why wouldn’t they?

The 30-year-old has now scored 164 goals in 267 appearances for the Reds, while also providing 67 assists.

Despite failing to score in his last five Premier League outings, Salah is absolutely clinical when presented with a chance in front of goal, which Firmino is clearly all too aware of.

After last night’s treble in Glasgow, the Liverpool No.11 now holds the record for quickest Champions League hat-trick of all time with his goals coming in just six minutes and 12 seconds.

Klopp now has a selection headache at Liverpool

Against Rangers, Firmino scored twice. Nunez scored once. Salah, of course, grabbed three goals, while Diogo Jota also impressively provided three assists in just 18 minutes.

Liverpool’s forwards were in fine form, although Klopp now has a tough decision ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Manchester City in the Premier League.

Firmino certainly doesn’t deserve to be dropped, but it would dent Nunez’s confidence if he is once again put on the bench after a goalscoring display. Jota and Salah would also expect to start after tearing Rangers apart.

It will be interesting to see who Klopp selects – in truth, all four could play if the German decides to attack Pep Guardiola’s men at Anfield.
