Tottenham fans on Twitter have been lauding the impact Ledley King has had on the squad since joining the backroom staff this summer.

There has been marked improvement in Spurs’ defence this season, despite the departure of Jan Vertonghen, and many Tottenham supporters believe that this turnaround has been down to the appointment of King as one of Jose Mourinho’s coaches.

It does make a lot of sense, King was one of the finest defenders of his generation, and if he has been able to pass on any of his wisdom to Spurs’ backline, it will have helped them improve.

Of course, there are other factors at play here, Mourinho has had more time with the players and there have been new signings in the shape of Sergio Reguillon and Matt Doherty, but Tottenham fans have still been quick to praise King’s impact.

One fan even stated that he’s made the same impact as Thiago Silva has at Chelsea.

Unfortunately, we aren’t privy to Spurs’ training tactics and what King does on a day to day basis, but as outsiders looking in, the fact that the London club have improved defensively since his arrival doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

Another supporter pointed towards the improvement we’ve seen from Eric Dier this season at centre-back, and we can imagine that King has played a part in making Dier a more assured defender this season.
