The striker has impressed during his loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers this season.
On loan Wolves striker Benik Afobe sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, and made his feelings on the potential of earning a permanent deal at Molineux very clear, declaring his love for the club in the process.
The 25-year-old joined the Black Country outfit on loan from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day in January, and he has since gone on to score six goals in 16 outings for Nuno’s side, with only seven of those being starts.
It it still unclear as to whether he will remain at Molineux next season, however, with the summer transfer window and the Premier League looming large for Wolves.
Afobe spoke exclusively to the Express & Star about his season so far, and suggested that there is only one place he wants to be playing next season:
“I’ve always thought about it, even the first day I signed. At the same time you’ve got to focus on the job ahead of you and that’s been to score a few goals and help the team be champions. So far I’ve done that – and the team have. I’m not going to say too much but everyone knows how much Wolves means to me. I’ve played 16 games now, seven starts and I’ve given 100 per cent every time.”
The Arsenal academy graduate obviously feels comfortable at Molineux, having spent 12 months with Wolves two years ago, during what was an extremely successful spell in the Black Country.
Whether Nuno thinks he has done enough to earn a permanent deal ahead of next season, though, remains to be seen.
