Billy King has not featured very often for Scottish Championship leaders Rangers since his loan from Hearts.
On-loan Rangers striker Billy King has confirmed to the Edinburgh Evening News that he is expecting to return to parent club Hearts at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old forward joined the Ibrox club at the end of January on a six-month loan, though he has only earned three starts and four substitute appearances since joining the Scottish Championship leaders.
The Scotland Under-21 international could not have kicked off his Rangers stint better, having hit a late winner in the 1-0 win over Falkirk on January 30.
Hearts are flying in the Scottish Premiership, sitting third in the table, and although King does not know what the future holds for him at Tynecastle, he expects to return once his duty with Mark Warburton’s side has finished.
“There’s no buy clause, it’s a six-month loan to Rangers and I’ll be returning to Hearts in the summer,” he told the Edinburgh Evening News.
“The Hearts team are doing really well just now, they look like they’ve secured third place and they’re sitting in a really good position. The loan has been good for me so far. I think it’s a stepping stone in my development. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.
“You never know what’s going to happen over the summer with players coming in and going out, and how the gaffer [at Hearts] decides to play.”
He has done his bit, as Rangers sit top of the Championship, 11 points clear of Falkirk with a game in hand as promotion seems imminent.
It will be Rangers’ first season back in the top flight since the financial collapse in 2012 saw them demoted to the fourth tier of Scottish football.
