Herrera left Rangers on loan for a second time this season to join Mexican side Necaxa.

Eduardo Herrera cancelled his loan at Santos Laguna earlier this month, before departing Rangers a second time on loan to join Mexican outfit Necaxa – and he has certainly hit the ground running since his debut on January 10.
The 30-year-old made his debut in the Copa MX, scoring in a 2-0 win over San Luis in just the third minute with a bullet header. It saw Herrera given the chance to come off the bench in the league, during a 2-1 win over former side Pumas.
But it was on Wednesday night that Herrera continued his excellent start at Necaxa, with his second goal in three games as he headed home from close range to put his side 1-0 up over Club America.
Although the Mexican giants suffered a 2-1 loss to America in the end, Herrera has starred in his opening games for Necaxa – the same team Carlos Pena went on loan to during the first half of the 2018-19 campaign.
Herrera, a nine-time Mexico international, joined Rangers in the summer of 2017 as Pedro Caixinha brought a number of Mexican and Portuguese players to Ibrox. He scored only two goals in 24 appearances.

The former Pumas striker failed to cope with fast-paced tempo of the Scottish Premiership, and Colombia international Alfredo Morelos replaced him as the club’s number one striker despite being eight years Herrera’s junior.
Herrera cost Rangers £1.5million (Record) – costing £750,000 per goal – but he remains likely to leave the Gers on a permanent basis in the summer. However, his excellent start to life at Necaxa may see Rangers reconsider.
