The Aston Villa loanee has praised his team-mate Callum Hudson-Odoi.

On-loan Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham has told Chelsea’s official website that Callum Hudson-Odoi ‘more than deserves’ his England call-up.

Abraham was set to link up with his ‘little brother’ for the England Under-21s, before Gareth Southgate drafted Hudson-Odoi into his senior side today.

Once upon a time it looked like the two could be team-mates at Aston Villa after the Villans were linked with a move for the 18-year-old winger.

The Birmingham Mail claimed in November that Aston Villa were keen on signing the huge talent in January, though a move never materialised.

“He’s more than deserved this call up and I’m very happy for him,” Abraham told Chelsea’s official website.

“Ever since a young age, he’s been unbelievable. Watching him grow up to where he is now, he’s done very well and now he’s actually doing it in men’s football for the world to see.”

Hudson-Odoi would’ve been a phenomenal signing for the Villans, but it became clear that it was a pipe dream when the teenager began impressing in Maurizio Sarri’s first team in West London.

On the other hand, Abraham, 21, is ripping it up in the West Midlands. He has netted 21 times in 32 Championship games for the Villa, who will badly need him to fire on all cylinders over the coming two months.

Dean Smith’s side are bang in form and have come from nowhere to occupy the fourth and last playoff place as things stand, with eight games left.
