Speaking on Sky Sports’ Saturday Social (13/2/20 9:35AM) Ben Foster has waxed-lyrical about Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
The French stopper has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this term and Foster believes he’s cemented himself as one of the best goalies in the league.
Indeed, Foster was naming his top five goalkeepers in the division, and he put Meslier in his list, speaking very highly of him in the process.
“I’ve watched a few games of him this season, and he doesn’t strike you as a big strong kind of goalie does he? He looks sort of skinny and sort of fragile. But honestly, he is flying, some of the saves he’s been making. World-class saves, proper world-class saves,” Foster said on Sky Sports.
“His first season in the Premier League as well, he’s been on fire. Leeds as well with their style of play, he’s going to have stuff to do and he’s going to be busy. He’s pulled out the saves and he’s kept a few clean sheets as well.”

This is top praise from one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the game.
Foster knows what he’s talking about when it comes to goalkeeping, and he’s clearly seen something special in Meslier, saying that he’s made some world-class saves this season.
The scary thing is, Meslier is only 20-years-old and if he continues to play like this, he’ll be worth a whole lot more than the £5 million that Leeds paid for him in the summer.
