Oleksandr Zinchenko says his Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka is ‘on fire’ after England beat Ukraine 2-0 during their Euro 2024 qualifier on Sunday at Wembley.
Arsenal’s Hale-End star scored and assisted during the game and Oleksandr Zinchenko admitted that the Englishman ‘did him’ during the game, but the £32 million star (Sky Sports) will get ‘revenge’.
Like Zinchenko has witnessed at the Emirates all season long, Bukayo Saka was twisting and turning Ukraine’s defence inside and out, including a stunning effort from outside of the box that doubled England’s lead.
Of course, all of that came before he had assisted Tottenham striker Harry Kane for the opening goal, after his lofted cross found the Three Lions captain in the penalty area.
Whilst Zinchenko will return to north London for Arsenal’s Premier League title battle with his morale on the floor, the man on the right flank has boosted his confidence.
That’s eight goals on the international stage for the Englishman and Zinchenko shared his honest thoughts on his club teammate, as he told Hayters TV.
“I am not going to be the guy who is going to judge,” said Zinchenko. “Definitely, he’s one of them, that’s for sure. I wish for him to be in this form until the end of the season because he’s such an important player for Arsenal.
“In these kinds of games, the big players decide the games, so they had two chances, obviously, in the first half, they scored two and, afterwards, it was difficult to create something.
“He’s an amazing player. We knew that. He’s on fire, at the moment and I wish him that until the end of the season. There is no friends on the pitch, unfortunately, he did me, but I will take revenge.”
SAKA IN THE FORM OF HIS LIFE
During Arsenal’s win over Crystal Palace last time out, Saka became the first player this season to hit double figures in both goals and assists.
Over the course of the campaign, the £70k-a-week star (Spotrac) has 12 league goals and 10 assists to his name, with many backing him to be Player of the Year.
Of course, if he leads his boyhood club to the Premier League title for the first time in nearly two decades, then those calls will only grow.
