Nathan Redmond has stated on Instagram that Demarai Gray was ‘on fire’ during Everton’s 3-1 win against Burnley on Monday night.
For the third game running, Everton’s summer signing scored for his new club, but this time in more crucial circumstances as Rafa Benitez’s side maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign.
The Toffees were 1-0 down in the second half, but a Michael Keane header levelled the scores on the hour mark.
But that’s when carnage struck because Andros Townsend scored one of the goals of the season after his long-range dipping and audacious 30-yard effort was just too hot for Nick Pope to handle.
And by the time the Everton supporters could stop celebrating, Gray was being put through on goal a minute later and he ruthlessly put the ball away.
Redmond, who played alongside Gray at Birmingham and at England U21’s wrote in the comments section of the Everton man’s IG post: “On fire the boy.”
Whilst Aston Villa’s very own summer signing, Leon Bailey, who was with Gray at Bayer Leverkusen last season, added: “My broski.”

Both Gray and Townsend are proving to be the signings of the summer, so far and brilliant pieces of business from Benitez.
In previous years, Everton have thrown serious cash at players and have, in truth, been put in a worse state because it’s definitely not helped them.
But it seems as though their troubles to spend this summer, because of FFP, has been a blessing in disguise.
It has forced them down the cheap road, and with those in the Goodison Park boardroom looking with eagle eyes, it has allowed them to pluck out better players.
It will be interesting that if these forced methods work whether Everton will turn back the clock, to when David Moyes was in charge, and opt down the road of buying cheaper players.
