James Collins believes it is no surprise Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Jarrod Bowen after the West Ham star’s display against Norwich, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Bowen scored in either half as the Hammers beat the Canaries 2-0 at the London Stadium on Wednesday night. The forward connected with Vladimir Coufal to break the deadlock in the 42nd-minute, before combining with Arthur Masuaku seven-minutes from full-time.

The result lifted the Irons back into the top-four of the Premier League table above Arsenal by two-points. However, the Gunners have played one less game than David Moyes’ side.

Bowen struck his first goal of the east London affair by glancing Coufal’s inviting cross past Canaries ‘keeper Tim Krul. West Ham were the side in control long before going ahead, and compounded Norwich’s misery when Bowen flicked home Masuaku’s delivery for his brace.

Collins lauds relentless Bowen after Norwich masterclass

Bowen delivered a masterclass performance to help West Ham beat Norwich as he moved onto five goals for the season. The 25-year-old may have even scored significantly more, as the Canaries appeared worlds apart from the £22m former Hull dynamo.

Norwich could not handle Bowen’s movement, while the West Ham star spurned a handful of chances throughout. He shot straight at Krul in the second-minute, for example, and saw VAR rule out an effort in-between goals as Nikola Vlasic was stood in an offside position.

Ex-West Ham defender Collins felt Bowen’s display against Norwich proved why Liverpool boss Klopp is a big fan. The Reds chief stated in November he likes the winger ‘a lot’. While Eurosport report the Anfield natives consider him the ideal next aspect in their front-three.

“Jarrod Bowen is on fire at the moment,” he said (12/01, 20:31). “He cannot do anything wrong. It was a delicious ball into the box and probably the smallest man on the pitch gets up to nod it in. I know Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Bowen, and you can understand why.

“To see him in this form is great. It takes the pressure off Michail Antonio.”

Collins later added (21:03): “Bowen could have had five tonight. It was a lovely ball into him by Pablo Fornals, who is pulling the strings.” While the former Hammers star noted (21:30): “That is nothing that West Ham don’t deserve. Jarrod Bowen has been excellent all night.”

Liverpool to raid West Ham for Bowen in 2022?

Liverpool admire Bowen considerably, so may raid West Ham in a 2022 transfer market if he keeps up his dynamic form. Eurosport also noted in their December report that the Reds believe he is still yet to reach his peak potential.

The Anfield natives feel Bowen can reach an even higher level if moulded in Klopp’s system. Even though the Leominster-born star has seven Premier League assists from open play so far this season. Only Mohamed Salah (9) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (9) have laid on more.
