Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has claimed that Chelsea hold a slight interest in Adama Traore.

The Spanish winger is reportedly on the market for around £10m, and, understandably, he’s attracting plenty of interest from within the Premier League.

Tottenham and West Ham have both been credited with an interest, and now, Bailey states that Chelsea have him on their shortlist.

Granted, he’s not at the top of the Blues’ list, but if the London club don’t land their first-choice targets he could head to Stamford Bridge.

What’s been said?

Bailey discussed Chelsea’s interest in the Spaniard.

“No, he is on Chelsea’s list as like a third or fourth choice you know, he’d fit as the understudy to Reece James well on that side and as Sean says there’s so much natural ability there, that’s why Tottenham and Chelsea are looking at him there’s so much natural ability there you can’t really blame them,” Bailey said.

Worth a punt

At just £10m Adama Traore is worth a gamble.

The winger may not be the best footballer in the Premier League, but he is one of the most unique players on the planet, and if Thomas Tuchel can finetune his abilities he could be a star.

As Bailey says, Traore would likely be arriving as a backup wing-back, and there’s reason to believe he could be fantastic in that role using his pace and power to drive from deep and contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Traore represents a very unique opportunity in the transfer market, and it wouldn’t surprise us one bit if one of the bigger clubs in Europe took a chance on the former Barcelona man.
