Are you watching Jack Grealish? That’s four Premier League goals for Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron this season and that’s the same amount the £100 million Manchester City star has scored in the league since moving to the Etihad last summer.

It has been some turnaround from for the previously-struggling winger, who isn’t the only Newcastle player that has changed his fortunes around under Eddie Howe at St James’ Park.

Former Sunderland striker Darren Bent also spoke about how Joelinton now looks like a ‘world-beater’ in the middle of the park and how Almiron is playing like he is on a ‘different planet’ following their side’s 5-1 win over Brentford on Saturday, as he told MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (08/09/22 at 8:15 pm)

That’s also three in Almiron’s last two matches, and despite the huge turnover of players and finances at Newcastle during the past 12 months, two unlikely players are still standing.

Going forward, as the Magpies push for Europe, it could be argued that Joelinton and Almiron are sure starters, which is a credit to the players and how they have picked themselves up from the canvas.

But Bent was sure to praise Howe and his coaching staff for the work they have done with the players because they have transformed.

“What he (Eddie Howe) has done for people like Joelinton,” said Bent. “Players like Joelinton, who was a centre-forward, they brought him in to score goals. But that wasn’t his game.

“They put him in central midfield and now he looks like a world-beater.

“Almiron, at the minute, he is on a different planet. His goal against Fulham, another one against Brentford. He has been phenomenal, so Eddie Howe, and his coaching staff, deserve huge credit.”

ALMIRON IS EMBARRASSING GREALISH

There’s no doubt that Almiron’s performances haven’t been up to scratch since his then-record-breaking transfer to the club in 2019.

But if you are going to talk ill about a fellow professional, when talking about the performance about one of your own teammates, then make sure you back it up.

Grealish hasn’t been performing anywhere near the £100 million great British pounds that the money-rich Manchester City threw at Aston Villa for the Englishman, so it’s rich for him to talk.

But when you run your mouth like that, don’t then start getting outperformed by the player because it’s just utterly embarrassing for the player, even if talent and quality-wise Almiron doesn’t touch Grealish’s purposely-worn low socks.
