Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Fabrizio Romano told the Qué Golazo Podcast that he expects the Gunners to do something ‘special’ in January.
The transfer specialist said: “I tell you that I expect something special from Arsenal.”
Now, given Romano’s reputation as a reliable source of transfer news, Arsenal have every right to be excited by his comments.
The Gunners have previous when dealing in the January transfer market.
While it’s typically made out as a tough period to sign players, given the fact that no club wants to lose a star player mid-season, Arsenal have enjoyed transfer success in January before.
It was the winter transfer window which saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang land at the Emirates, while the north Londoners captured the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Andrey Arshavin in January too.
There are a few players who are believed to be in Arsenal’s sights.
The Athletic are reporting that RB Salzburg prodigy Dominik Szoboszlai is on Mikel Arteta’s list, while Defensa Central revealed that the Spaniard wants Arsenal to sign Isco from Real Madrid in January.
Whoever they bring in must be able to create chances.
As WhoScored shows, Arsenal have registered the fourth-fewest amount of goals in the Premier League this season with just ten in ten games, while they also record the fourth-fewest shots per game with 9.5 efforts every 90 minutes.
