Arsenal fans on Twitter are excited by the possibility of signing Marcel Sabitzer.

According to ESPN journalist Juliens Laurens, speaking on his podcast with Gabriele Marcotti, Arsenal are ‘very keen’ on the Leipzig midfielder.

It’s well documented that the Gunners need a creative spark this winter and technical director Edu even admitted this month that a playmaker was the priority.

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for the Austria international in recent months.

But now it’s an all-North London affair it seems and here’s how Arsenal fans reacted to the speculation on Twitter:

Problem is, can Arsenal afford him?

They couldn’t afford Houssem Aouar during the summer transfer window and wound up spending £45 million on Thomas Partey instead.

And what has changed in regards to the Emirates Stadium club’s finances in the space of three months that suggests they could now afford the £50 million to bring Sabitzer to North London? If we’re honest, not much.

He might be exciting some Arsenal fans but, logically, this probably isn’t a go.
