Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Shkodran Mustafi had been dropped by Schalke 04 for sporting reasons.
As covered by the Mirror, the 20-cap Germany international was axed by the Bundesliga outfit, following a dire start to life back in his homeland.
After his Arsenal contract was terminated in January, Mustafi joined Schalke 04 on a deal until the end of the season.
Since then, his time at the Veltins Arena has been disastrous.
Mustafi has seen Christian Gross sacked, and Dimitrios Grammozis replace him to become the club’s fifth manager of the campaign.
On the pitch, Schalke 04 have conceded 16 goals in the 28-year-old’s six Bundesliga appearances, losing four and drawing two.
As things stand, Schalke 04 have just ten points from 27 games, winning just once in the Bundesliga this season.
Incredibly, they have also conceded an astonishing 71 goals in those 27 games.
