Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that James Tavernier had signed a two-year contract extension.

The 29-year-old’s new deal will keep him at Ibrox until at least the summer of 2024, and is reward for his incredible form this season.

In 41 appearances, the Bradford-born defender has racked up an astonishing amount of goal involvements from right-back.

Tavernier has scored 17 goals, while he’s also recorded 15 assists.

The former Newcastle man has gone down in Rangers folklore as the man who captained them to their 55th title.

Since arriving at Ibrox in 2015, while Rangers were in the Scottish Championship, Tavernier has come a long way.

He’s now racked up 284 appearances for the Gers, scoring a mind-boggling 63 goals from right-back, while also assisting 89 more.

His technical skills and eye for goal have been invaluable to Steven Gerrard.

He is by far the most efficient right-back in Europe in terms of attacking involvement.
