John Terry and Dimitar Berbatov were left wowed on Instagram after Erik Lamela’s stunning goal for Tottenham in the North London derby on Sunday.
The 29-year-old’s remarkable Rabona goal opened the scoring for Tottenham in the North London derby, but in the end, they fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Rather than trying to sweep the ball into the bottom corner with his right foot, Lamela opted to use his stronger foot and shock even his own teammate, Sergio Reguilon by flicking the ball into the back of the net in such an audacious fashion.
Aston Villa coach Terry was watching from home and he posted this message on his Instagram story to the goal: ‘What a finish that is’ added with clapping emojis.
Whilst former Spurs favourite Berbatov simply posted ‘OMG’ to Lamela’s wondergoal.
Given the crazy and unique nature of Lamela’s goal, there will be calls for that effort to be put up for a Puskas nomination.
Tottenham players know a thing or two about that award because Heung-Min Son was the winner of that in 2020 for his solo effort against Burnley.
And remarkably enough, Lamela wouldn’t have been on the pitch hadn’t Son gone off injured early in the first half.
